Executive Director

Bette Cooper — Inspired by something infinitely greater than ourselves and founded in spiritual care, The Chaplaincy serves from a place of faith in all of its programs.  Our convictions say to those of us who work here that our vocation serves a purpose greater than ourselves.  In that, we recognize the sacredness of the work we do together.  The Chaplaincy is a place where our souls fill our individual roles within the organization.

I am privileged to serve with a board and leadership team that embraces the deeper meaning of our work.  I am humbled and honored by the relationship of this organization to our larger community, always aware of their devotion to the work we do together.  Over our thirty six year history, our community has continued to provide strength and direction to our mission.

Each day I am inspired by the stories of those we serve and how that service happens and I am grateful to be a part of it.

Chief Financial Officer

Brant Baker – The Chaplaincy means many things to many people. For me, I truly feel blessed to have an opportunity to work with so many talented individuals who are willing to share their skills, dedication and faith for the common good.

Director of Spiritual Formation

Wes McIntyre – The leadership team of The Chaplaincy has an essential element that needs to be mentioned.  This element is essential in all our best efforts. The leadership team at the Chaplaincy seeks to look toward that which is greater than ourselves; that which has been and is present with us since our inception; that which inspires in us creativity, compassion, courage, and wisdom; that which takes us beyond the poverty of our own opinions, viewpoints and egos and centers us in a spirit of service to our community.  We are faith based and that means, among other things, we trust beyond ourselves for divine guidance, providential leading, and inspired service.  We are humbled when we miss this divine presence and connection but we are also humbled when we lead into that calling and discover a path that leaves us in awe, knowing that what is occurring transcends us all.  What a privilege for us to participate in life in this way.

Director of
Hospice Services

Gary Castillo – Let me take the opportunity to introduce myself as the new Director of Hospice for The Chaplaincy. In a way, it is a sort of homecoming for me as I have been out of hospice for a short time and now I have the opportunity to join the wonderful team at The Chaplaincy. Over the course of the last six years I have had the privilege of working in hospices across the country and it has been the most rewarding part of my whole professional career. Hospice has a way of drawing you in and as I had someone tell me once “it touches the soul”. I look forward to getting to know the staff, community supporters and The Chaplaincy Board so that together we can continue to build on the foundation that has been laid by so many. We are continually challenged as hospice providers to get the message out about the care and support that hospice provides to so many in our community and communities across the country. I look forward to being a part of that message and together with my wife Maria and two children, Gary and Danielle, becoming a part of the hospice family at The Chaplaincy.

Supervisor of Social Services

Judy Westerberg – There is a saying in Hospice that goes, "The care of the body means nothing without first easing the soul.  Hospice Workers are not hired; they are called".  That message is true for all of us here who know that working at The Chaplaincy is exactly where we are meant to be.  I believe that God has brought us together with our divergent backgrounds, talents and passions to do his work.

Our work is about relationship building.  We are intentional about our support and caring of one another.  That strengthens us as individuals and as an organization as we strive to create and provide opportunities for hurting people in our community to find healing, reconciliation and hope.  It is a joy and a privilege to be part of this team.
